Living a Hospitality of Heart,
Hands, and Hope
Salem Lutheran church is a multi-generational community of friendly folks “Living a Hospitality of Heart, Hands, and Hope.” We were founded in 1895 as a Swedish congregation. Today Salem is a place of welcome diversity. Not long ago we spent time drafting a welcome statement, adopting it by a 100 percent vote of the congregation. This welcome statement added Salem to the roster of RIC (Reconciling in Christ) congregations, synods, and seminaries.
Our Welcome Statement … Here at Salem Lutheran Church, we welcome all who are seeking God’s love and grace. We welcome all because God welcomes all, regardless of age, race or culture, sexual orientation, gender identity, or relationship status. We welcome all without regard to abilities, addictions, physical or mental health, imprisonment, socio-economic circumstances, or anything that too often divides us. We celebrate together our unity as God’s people. Salem is a place for each person to shine in their own unique gifts.
Everything about Salem centers around the same hospitality that Jesus practiced — a hospitality of radical inclusion and extravagantly expressed love. It’s who and whose we are and we don’t know any other way to be. If you’re looking for a place to belong, we invite you to come and check out the fit.
